Principal’s message

Welcome to UPS!

At Uxbridge Public School, our primary focus is on learning. Parents and staff encourage a safe, healthy and positive environment that focuses on learning. Uxbridge Public School is a midsized elementary school located at the centre of the growing community of Uxbridge. It is a single track French Immersion school of approximately 350 students.

UPS, as it is fondly referred to, is an amazing school. We strive to be the best school we can be by having an innovative, energetic and creative staff who promote a learning culture. We are proud of our record of excellence in teaching respect and responsibility. Learning goals and success criteria are co-constructed with students and parents. Staff provide interventions in both literacy and numeracy to students who need it. Staff engage students in modes of thinking, exploration and, knowledge-building that are relevant to their experiences growing up in the 21st Century. Our collective energies and talents are directed to producing respectful, responsible, imaginative, independent citizens.

Our school plan is closely aligned to the Durham District School Board system plan to bring about improvement in the areas of literacy, numeracy and safety.

Our quality programming is made possible with the help of our School Community Council (a group of dedicated parent volunteers). Members of the SCC participate on the School Improvement Team and the Anti-Bullying/Character Education Committee. They help support our library and will continue to fundraise for resources which support our school goals.
